Children and adults are invited to go chalkboard crazy when a Sheffield gallery hosts its first family arts festival.

Since Cupola Gallery, Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, launched its own public chalkboard, owner Karen Sherwood has been keen to ‘draw others into the addictive practice’.

She said: “We are providing a number of mini framed chalk boards and chalks and free access to the gallery garden, the outside chalk board, gallery wall and paving to encourage the chalk to go anywhere and everywhere in figurative or abstract patterns and pictures. We want to create a chalk mural.”

The free event – part of a national campaign to develop the range of arts events and activities available to families – will take place on Saturday, November 2, from 11am to 4pm.
