Brave Sheffield youngster Jessica is cut out for charity

Jessica Fiddes, 11, of John Ward Street in Sheffield, whose step father, Robert Howden and her mum’s uncle, Paul Broughton, both have cancer is raising vital funds for Weston Park Cancer Hospital and St Luke’s Hospice.

On Friday, July 13, she had 12 inches of her hair cut to raise vital funds and donated the hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides free of charge real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair or have none due to cancer.

She even went a step further and had her hair dyed the same purple that is found on charity cancer ribbons.

Jessica said: “My aim is to raise as much money as I possibly can for two fantastic charities in Sheffield that care for and treat people with cancer – St Luke’s Hospice and Weston Park Hospital.”

She added: “I will also be helping the Little Princess Trust, the Trust helps provide free of charge real hair wigs for children that have lost their own hair due to cancer.

“In Summer 2017 my Mum’s Uncle Paul was diagnosed with a terminal cancer caused by asbestos. During this time of been in pain and unwell he has been treated, cared for and looked after by all the fantastic people at St Luke’s Hospice. Thanks to them his pain is now under control and he’s back doing some of the things he loves to do. Then in December 2017 my mum’s Partner Robert was diagnosed with a rare form of Germ Cell Cancer in his chest.” His plan for long-term treatment had to be stopped due to a lung infection.
