It was reported by The Star on Friday that a number of players hadn’t received their full wages for January, with anybody earning over £7,000 per month having their income capped at that amount.

Any players who earned less than £7,0000 per month were paid in full last week already.

Now though, sources have revealed that payments have been made in full ahead of the club’s trip to Bournemouth this week, news that will certainly go down well after some fears about the club’s financial situation.

It was not the first time partial wages have been delayed at Hillsborough of late, but – as has been the case since the start of the pandemic – the club’s players continue to receive their full wage without deferral.

Wednesday are far from the only club dealing with financial issues given the complete lack of revenue in the English Football League at present, with Derby County’s problems having been well documented and Cardiff City applying for EFL help after missing out on getting any of the rescue package from the Welsh government last month.

Neil Thompson’s side put in a good showing at Hillsborough amid the wages situation last week, and managed to pick up an important 1-0 win over Preston North End to take a step closer to climbing out of the Championship relegation zone.
