Judge warns sex offender to stay at his address after breaching order in Sheffield

Sheffield Crown Court heard how Alex Kelsey, aged 25, breached his sex-offender notification requirements by failing to inform the authorities that he had stayed at someone else’s address in Sheffield for a total of 22 nights.
Judge Sarah Wright told the court on January 25: “The defendant began a relationship at the beginning of 2020. On March, 2020, he was found at that lady’s address and she was able to show train tickets which showed he had been at her home on a number of occasions in February and March. A total of 22 nights.”

Hide AdThe court heard this was the first breach of Kelsey’s requirements as a relevant offender within the terms of the Sexual Offences Act and he has been making progress on his current order which runs until May, 2022.
Kelsey, of Boyer Street, Derby, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements by failing to notify authorities of another address where he had resided.
Judge Wright recognised Kelsey is on a sex-offender programme and is subject to an existing community order.
She imposed a 12 month community order alongside his existing order with a residence condition of two-months meaning he must stay at his current home for that period.

Hide AdKelsey, who is also subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, must notify authorities of any subsequent change of address.
Judge Wright warned Kelsey he must not stay at any other address.
