There is a long history between the Owls and the Toffees that goes back to 1892 (a game that Wednesday won 5-3), with tonight’s encounter in the FA Cup set to be the 152nd meeting of the two sides.

Brown, who turned 24 earlier this month, told The Star recently that there is a lot on the line in the second half of this season for him, and he admits that this weekend’s tie is one that the whole team is excited for.

The Chelsea loanee hasn’t started for Wednesday since back in September, but could well find himself back in the XI this evening as Neil Thompson looks to field a side capable of causing an upset in the FA Cup.

Brown told The Star, “Everton is a big club with some amazing players there at the moment. So it’ll be a good test for us, and I think we can go there and show what we can really do. We’ve got some amazing footballers here, so I think it’s an opportunity to show a lot of people how we can play football.

“All the boys are excited, we can’t wait for it. We’ve been working on the shape this week, and then we’ll kick on to Sunday.”

So does he think the Owls can spring an upset in Merseyside?

“Football’s crazy, so you never know,” he replied. “I feel like we’ve got a great team, and I think we can put up a good fight against anyone.

“It’s a one-off game, it’s 90 minutes, so I feel like we can do well. We’ll definitely try our best.”

A win for the Owls would see them head into the Fifth Round of the tournament for the second season in a row, setting up a tie against either Wycombe Wanderers or Tottenham Hotspur that will take place the weekend of February 10th.

Wednesday face Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton at 8pm tonight in the final kickoff of the night.
