The band’s screaming fans were nicknamed the Tartan Army by newspapers because they copied their Scottish idols’ costumes of half-mast trousers and plenty of tartan checks. Spiky hair and stripy socks completed the look. The Rollers had a string of bubblegum pop hits such as Bye Bye Baby, Shang-a-Lang and Give a Little Love.
