The day a hurricane hit Sheffield - leaving four dead and hundreds injured

Friday February 16 1962 was one of the darkest days in Sheffield’s history as a hurricane battered the city leaving four dead and more than 250 injured.

Winds of 96mph caused damage to 70,000 homes across the city and hundreds were left homeless. Here are some of the dramatic photos from that terrible day.
