The Lyceum Theatre, which plays host mainly to touring productions, was opened in October 1897 but had become a bingo hall by the 1960s. It fell into disrepair and a long-running campaign finally rescued the venue, which reopened in 1990. It is now one of the jewels in the crown of Sheffield Theatres, alongside the Crucible next door.
