7. Unique equipment
The equipment shown is the Van de Graaff 20 megaelectronvolt X-ray therapy unit installed in the David Morrison Research Department, which was part of the Sheffield Centre for Radiotherapy (now within Weston Park Hospital). One of the first radiotherapy machines at Weston Park. This equipment was unique in the UK; it was built in 1949 and operated for a period of about 20 years.
