Of course we couldn’t do a list with everyone who is famous from the City of Steel but here are some people you know and some you may be surprised to know lived or worked in our great city.
5. Richard McCourt

8. Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill
The 33-year-old track and field olympian was born in Sheffield and got her first taste of athletics at a summer school at the Don Valley Stadium in 1996. Her first senior victory came in 2004 and then she went on to have world wide successes from 2009 and became a gold medal winner at the London 2012 games. Photo: Adam Davy
