Are you in our retro gallery of photos taken at Sheffield's legendary Boardwalk venue?

The Boardwalk is always one of those places mentioned fondly when music lovers talk about venues they still miss.

The pub on Snig Hill was variously called the Compleat Angler and the Black Swan (also known as the Mucky Duck) and it lays claim to being the first venue where The Clash played in July 1976. Sheffield legend Joe Cocker also played there, part of a long roster of famous names which website sheffieldmusicarchive.co.uk says included Argent, Wishbone Ash, Average White Band, If, Genesis...

Later the venue became The Boardwalk and a second space, Under the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk closed a decade ago and various attempts to reopen it either foundered or were short-lived,sadly.
