Are you one of the happy Sheffield people setting off on holiday in these snaps taken down the years?

As the end of lockdown looms, many of us are wondering if we dare to book summer holidays this year – or maybe you’ve just taken the plunge and done it?

We’re looking back here at how Sheffielders holidayed in the past – including the days when the whole of the city seemed to empty out when big firms closed down their works for summer maintenance. Or maybe you remember Star Readers’ Club holidays, which often started with a queue to board a coach outside the York Street offices. Please share your holiday members on our Facebook page, Retro and Memories – Sheffield Star.

In these confusing and worrying times, local journalism is more vital than ever. Thanks to everyone who helps us ask the questions that matter by taking out a digital subscription or buying a paper. We stand together. Nancy Fielder, editor
