Are you among the faces in our Sheffield retro gallery of pictures taken in 1980?

It was the year the Rubick’s Cube was first launched, pirate radio ship Radio Caroline sank, Zimbabwe was declared independent from the UK, CNN was launched as the first 24-hour news channel and John Lennon was shot.

Musically the MOD revival was in full swing and The Jam and Special AKA both topped the charts, along with Blondie, The Police and ABBA. It was also the year that Jack Nicholson terrified cinema audiences in The Shining, Harrison Ford was put into deep sleep in The Empire Strikes Back, and the Blues Brothers went on their ‘mission from God’.

But there was also plenty going on in Sheffield. How many people do you recognise from these pictures taken in the city 40 years ago?
