Burns Night is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns who lived in the 1700s and was the author of many Scottish poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, 25 January and over the years Sheffielders have embraced the traditions with formal dinners and celebrations happening across the city over the decades.
