Sheffield has much to be proud of including our famed steel and did you know the discovery of Stainless Steel was made by one of Sheffield’s famed sons Harry Brearley.

Today would have been his 150th birthday, February 18, so to honour the man who changed the world with his discovery we have dug out some pictures of steel workers over the generations.

See how things have changed from when an elephant was used to pull the heavy loads to the recognition of all the work the women of steel have done over the years.
