John Lewis in Sheffield – previously the city’s beloved Cole Brothers store before a rebrand – has been in people’s thoughts after it emerged the retailer was ‘highly unlikely’ to reopen all of its shops when lockdown ends.

Dame Sharon White, chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, has said no decisions have yet been made on specific stores but that ‘financial modelling’ is taking place.
