Here's a first look at new Sheffield Lyceum Theatre shows

A host of shows are heading to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield for 2021 and 2022, including the return of city-based musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

This set of new and rescheduled shows complement the previously announced season in December.

Chief executive of Sheffield Theatres, Dan Bates, said: “Our audiences were so supportive when we announced new shows back in December – we are now thrilled to be able to announce more touring productions set to take to the Lyceum stage.

From June 8, enrol at Westerberg High with Heathers, a dark comedy based on the 1980s teen film where Veronica Sawyer learns that popularity is literally a matter of life and death.

Northern Ballet returns with its provocative production of Dangerous Liaisons from June 15. Two bored 18th-century French aristocrats spin a web of heartbreak.

Then it’s time for Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 the Musical from June 29. Three workmates are pushed to boiling point by their sexist boss and plan their retaliation.

On July 6, the spooky and kooky Addams Family return, with Wednesday Addams all grown up and falling in love.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie returns on August 3. The story of the Sheffield teenager who wants to go to his prom in a dress was created at the Crucible Theatre in 2017 before it went on to take the West End by storm.

From August 16, grab your dancing shoes for Hairspray, with the feel-good musical about a girl with big hair and an even bigger heart promising to be bolder than ever.

There’s more musical nostalgia set in a US high school with the ever-stylish Grease, running from October 5.

This year’s pantomime is Sleeping Beauty, with Sheffield legend Damian Williams at the helm. It runs December 3 to January 3.

Looking ahead, Six the Musical is rescheduled to April 19, 2022. The six wives of Henry VIII finally take to the mic to tell their tales.

Tickets go on sale to Centre Stage club members at noon on Monday, January 25 and then on general sale on February 1. Tickets can be booked online at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
