PCSOs Katie Gavin and Fraser Bullas, of the Sheffield South West neighbourhood policing team, came across an elderly couple with a flat tyre which they had not known about yesterday, Wednesday, February 3.

After helping them to park safely, they learned the woman had a Covid jab booked at Sheffield Arena and only 15 minutes left to get there.

“With the current situation and the lady’s vulnerabilities we could not let her miss her vaccine so we drove her there and then reunited her with her husband,” wrote police.

“When the PCSOs left the vaccine centre the staff working there gave them a round of applause for their good work. All in a day’s work.”

Their efforts were widely praised, with one person callling it ‘nice, proper community policing’ and another commenting: “Thank goodness people still care about one another. Good start for February.”
