WATCH: Video shows magic moment Sheffield Children's Hospital snowflake lights were switched on

The pavements outside the hospital, opposite Weston Park, was packed with wellwishers as the switch was flicked to turn the snowflakes on just before 7pm this evening.
This year is the 20th anniversary of The Children’s Hospital Charity’s annual snowflake appeal, and this video shows the moment the lights went on, accompanied by an enthusiastic countdown and loud cheers.

Hide AdWhat began as four snowflake decorations on Sheffield Children’s famous hospital building in 2004 has grown hugely over the last two decades.
In 2023 the charity lit up the region with nearly 500 Snowflakes, each sponsored by a committed charity supporter.
This year the organisers have extended the number even further, with new locations at Vicar Lane in Chesterfield, The Moor, and the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.
