The 15 Sheffield areas where coronavirus cases are RISING

The Covid-19 infection rate may be falling across Sheffield, but there are still neighbourhoods where cases are rising.

New data from Public Health England, available to view on an interactive map, shows which neighbourhoods have seen an increase in coronavirus cases in the past week.

In Sheffield the infection rate now stands at 270 new cases per 100,000 people. This amounts to 1,579 new cases in the week to November 16 – the latest week for which NHS figures are available.

Data for the most recent four days (November 17-20) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

In the week to November 9, the infection rate was 352.4 new cases per 100,000 people, which meant there were 2,064 confirmed new cases in the city.

A majority of areas in England (169 out of 315) have seen a rise in case rates.

However, the infection rate has fallen in every local authority area in South Yorkshire.
