Smoke plume over South Yorkshire as 5,000 tonnes of wood chippings catch fire

The fire broke out at a farm on Lidget Lane, Bramley, Rotherham, this morning and has caused a huge smoke plume that can be seen for miles.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “If you live in the area, please shut your doors and windows.

"We’ll provide updates throughout the day but, if you see the plume, don’t be alarmed - we’re on the case!”
