According to NHS England, one more patient has died after testing positive for coronavirus at a hospital in Sheffield, taking the city’s death toll to 271.

Across England, 108 new Covid-19 hospital deaths have been confirmed today, taking the total to 26,722 so far.

The latest figures published today are for confirmed deaths at hospitals in the 24 hours up to 5pm yesterday.

They do not include deaths at care homes or elsewhere in the community.

There have been a total of 180 Covid-19 deaths recorded by the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, 162 in Rotherham and 122 in Barnsley.

Some lockdown measures were eased today, with schools allowed to re-open, groups of six now able to meet in open spaces and some people who were ‘shielding’ allowed to leave their homes.
