“The patient was seen late this afternoon and the closure took place as soon as the risk was identified.

“It’s only suspected as the patient may have been in contact with a patient from an at risk area so we are following public health guidance by closing the site to deep clean.

“Once we have any further information we will inform patients.”There has been no confirmed cases of coronavirus yet in Sheffield, although two patients not from the city are being treated for the virus at the Hallamshire Hospital’s Infectious Diseases Unit.

A new drive-through out-of-hospital coronavirus testing site has been set up in an undisclosed location near the parkway.

Anyone who thinks they may have the virus and calls NHS 111 will now be given an appointment to be seen if they need to be screened.

They will be asked to drive there and remain in their car whilst trained staff in protective suits and masks take nose and throat swabs.

Patients will than be asked to drive home, stay in isolation and await the test results.
