Jessica 26 said it was a big surprise when she recently won this year's Miss Sheffield title

"This the second time I’ve had the honour to represent Sheffield in such a big competition,” said Jessica.

"The first time I got to represent Sheffield at Miss Great Britain I was so nervous but I feel like I have now grown as a person and I’m lucky I’ve been able to follow my dreams again with a second chance to compete and represent my area.

"We had just found out my dad had cancer so it was a bad time otherwise.”

Jessica is an orthopedic nurse at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, where she has been treating broken bones all through the pandemic.

"It has been a bit chaotic at times with covid,” she said.

"My team has been absolutely amazing and I don’t think I would have been able to do this without them.”

"Usually it’s a live heat and we compete against each other wearing different dresses and do different rounds,” said Jessica.

“This year its been an online interview where you have to fill in questions about yourself and the reasons why you would like the title.

"Then you have to send photos so it’s a bit more of an online competition this year which is a bit of an odd one for me. But it’s been a lot of fun.

In the previous years Jessica has raised over £7,000 for charities.

"I really wanted to carry on with that as much as possible,” she said.

“I want to be a role model to others. I have a heart condition myself and I believe that people should follow their dreams.

“I was told not to be a nurse and I would be restricted because of my condition But I carried on with it and ignored what they said.

“I got to follow my dreams and I want to encourage other girls to follow theirs.”

She is also trying her hand at acting having recently performed as an extra in the Netflix series Zero Chill.

Jessica is sponsored by Whites World at Killamarsh, and her chosen charities are cancer research uk and Alex’s wish. “Cancer research is very close to my heart because of my dad,” she said.

"Alex’s wish is fantastic as it helps children with the rare disease duchenne muscular dystrophy.”

Jessica is hoping to enter the Miss Great Britain finals in September.
