Sheffield loses more lives to Covid-19 as 83 more patients die in England

A total of 280 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have now died of the disease in hospital- an increase of two within a 24 hour reporting period.

The city’s case rate now stands at 2,584.

Across South Yorkshire, Doncaster has reported 889 cases- the town’s death toll has remained static.

Rotherham has reported 1,012 cases and one death in 24 hours whereas Barnsley has 1,008 cases and been hit with two deaths in the past day.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102 years old, and all had known underlying health conditions.

A further 83 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,790.

Their families have been informed.
