Suggestions began to circulate on social media earlier this afternoon that a serious incident had taken place at Northern General Hospital in the city.
However, officers now say they were called out shortly after 2.30pm to reports of a group 'loitering around the building’.
The group then fled when officers approached but police remain at the hospital while enquiries continue.
