Sheffield Eagles medics praised after man taken to hospital in Featherstone Rovers match

Featherstone Rovers RLFC have thanked medical staff at Sheffield Eagles for their help after their kit man fell ill during Sunday’s match.

Rugby League fans from both sides have wished Rob Smith a speedy recovery after falling ill at Sunday’s game at Doncster’s Keepmoat Stadium which resulted in the start of the second half being delayed.

In a statement on Twitter, a Featherstone Rovers spokesman said: “Thank you to everyone across the sport that have sent well wishes for Rob Smith. Rob was taken ill during yesterday’s match but is now stable in hospital in the company of his family where he continues to receive treatment and care. We wish Rob a speedy recovery.

“We are immensely grateful to all at Sheffield Eagles in particular their medical staff for their quick and professional response yesterday.”

Sheffield Eagles and Featherstone Rovers had not responded to our request for a comment by this afternoon.
