Reflecting on her career in Sheffield and Rotherham, she said that ending work would be difficult and likened it to “losing my right arm”.
Michelle began as a nursing assistant at Grenoside Hospital and qualified in 1982, later working in learning disability services and gaining further qualifications in teaching, management and social work.

She became a nursing manager before a mistaken medical diagnosis led her to pause her career in 2015, but she then returned to take a lead role with RDaSH in Rotherham.
She said: “Since 2015 has been the best. They are a great group of people and I will really miss them.”
Michelle described her career as phenomenal, with no regrets.
