The intimate and private feel of the spa is the perfect place to gossip and chat.
The Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Spa in Barnby Moor is a delightful escape from the real world with great food, amazing staff and a wonderful atmosphere.
I was lucky enough to be invited down to the spa and hotel on August 20, 2026.
I took my sister with me so that we could catch up in the lovely spa after not seeing each other in person for a while.
The intimate and private feel of the spa is the perfect place to gossip and chat.
We arrived bright and early as the spa facilities open at 9.30am and we wanted to enjoy as much time there as possible.

Immediately you are surrounded by luxury, everything from the decor in the lobby to the towels in the bathrooms.
Attention to detail is something Ye Olde Bell does very well.
The thing that we were most impressed with was the staff, the entire day they were attentive and helpful.
We spoke to two members of staff Lily and Kylie about the hotel and spa during our visit, both beamed with pride to be working at the establishment.
Kylie said: “When you walk through the door you are warmly greeted by reception.
“We guide you into the changing rooms and there is a personal butler service.
“We are quality over quantity, it is a very personal spa.”
Lily added: “We have a wide range of treatments, the girls who work here are excellent.
“You can have anything from a foot massage, exfoliation, facials.”

The women were passionate about all the details in the spa being perfect, they feel it is the little touches that make the experience luxury.
Kylie said: “Obviously I am going to be biased but I do feel like we are a cut above the rest.”
The Spa
The heated pool at the spa was incredible, I found myself getting in and out all day.
Even though it was raining heavily - English summer time - it did not stop us from enjoying the impressive jets.
We spent most of our time lounging around on the sun beds, we loved the heated beds outside in particular.
Neil was our wonderful butler for the day, he brought us drinks, explained all the facilities and checked up on us several times.
He was friendly, funny and made the experience so joyful.
We tested out the various sauna rooms, steam rooms and the salt relaxation space.
The foot spas were a favourite of ours as well as the large sofa bed which we spent a long time enjoying.
We were given a Sabbia Med experience which is designed to provide the therapeutic benefits associated with daylight exposure, including supporting vitamin D-related benefits.
The indoor beach was a delightful resting spot with comfy seats and soothing music.
We stayed in the spa until 5pm, the day flew by.
I would absolutely recommend this to others, we had a great time.

The food
The two course lunch at the Herb Garden Brasserie was great, our waitress Kylie was attentive.
I enjoyed the bacon wrapped duck terrine that came with a delightful jam and my sister had a lovely tomato soup for starters.
For main I had the pork with mashed potatoes and turnips - it was my favourite meal of the day.
The chef used fresh rosemary in the potatoes which made them feel extra indulgent.
My sister loved the bread, you could tell it was baked fresh.
Our evening meal was at the 1650 restaurant which is located inside of the hotel.
For starters we shared a prawn cocktail which had a very generous amount of shell fish.
Both of us were craving steak so I ordered the fillet and she had the sirloin.
Cooked beautifully I very much enjoyed the meal, especially the cheesy creamy dauphinoise potatoes.
My highlight of the day though was in fact a drink, they offer a wide range of cocktails at the spa bar and I was keen to sample some.
The Pina Colada was one of the best I have ever had, anywhere!

The hotel
We stayed in the Firth Suite which is located in the courtyard outside of the main hotel.
It felt private and secluded, we didn’t hear any other guests.
There is a large claw foot tub that screamed at us to use it, I wish I could fit one of those in my house.
A small detail that we really loved was that they leave bell shaped biscuits in the room for you.
The bed was comfortable, the space was clean and the decor was unique.

I couldn’t help but look up the art work and portraits on the walls as they were beautiful.
Overall the hotel room felt upscale and unlike any place we had stayed before.
