More hospital patients have died in Sheffield after contracting coronavirus, new figures reveal.

According to NHS England, the deaths of another 207 patients who tested positive for Covid-19 have been registered since yesterday’s figures were released.

The death toll for England now stands at 22,972, with 230 hospital fatalities in Sheffield – an increase of two since yesterday.

The figure does not include 126 care home deaths in Sheffield recorded by the Office for National Statistics as of April 24.

There have been 126 deaths in Rotherham, 116 in Doncaster and 101 in Barnsley.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to address the nation tomorrow to provide a ‘road map’ of how lockdown measures will gradually be relaxed.

The lockdown was put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus and people can only leave home for shopping, essential travel to work, exercise and medical reasons.
