Sheffield’s Director of Public Health has warned of a ‘long and difficult autumn’ as the city gears up to new coronavirus restrictions to be imposed for tomorrow.

From tomorrow people across South Yorkshire will be banned from mixing indoors with anyone not in their household.

But they can mix outside in groups of six or less as long as social distancing rules are applied.

Residents from different households are not allowed to mix in pubs, restaurants and cafes.

Following the announcement, Mr Fell tweeted: “Today I had a wobble.

“An ex-boss for whom I have huge respect said some lovely things to me. That settled my nerves.

“It will be a long and difficult autumn.”
