Public Health England does not break the number of cases down by cities in all cases. Instead it uses ‘upper tier local authorities’ and NHS regions, meaning London, for example, is broken down by its 32 boroughs.

The London borough of Kensington and Chelsea has so far had more confirmed cases of coronavirus than anywhere else in the country, with 19, followed by Hertfordshire (18) and Oxfordshire (17).

Below are the numbers of confirmed cases as of today, Thursday, March 12, according to Public Health England in some of the UK’s cities.

Liverpool: 8

Manchester: 7

Leeds: 7

Newcastle upon Tyne: 6

Wolverhampton: 4

Sheffield: 3

York: 3

Nottingham: 3

Birmingham: 2

Kingston upon Hull: 1

Derby: 1

There have now been 590 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with eight people having died after contracting the virus.

Today’s daily rise of 134 was the biggest yet.

There have been 491 confirmed cases in England, 60 in Scotland, 19 in Wales and 20 in Northern Ireland.
