Covid-19 death toll for Sheffield hospital patients remains static for a week

The death toll for hospital patients who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 has remained the same for a week.

The figure for Sheffield stands at 288, which is the same as it was last Wednesday.

There have been no other deaths of Covid-19 patients in hospitals elsewhere in South Yorkshire so far this week.

Doncaster’s death toll remains at 229 and there have been 196 fatalities in Rotherham and 148 in Barnsley.

NHS England revealed today that the deaths of another 22 hospital patients who tested positive for coronavirus have been recorded since yesterday, taking the death toll in England to 29,125.The patients were aged between 54 and 93 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

None of the figures include care home deaths or those in any other setting.

Face coverings have to be worn in shops from July 24 in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus.
