A pupil in Year 8 and another in Year 11 at King Edward VII School have returned positive tests for Covid-19, meaning everyone in their respective ‘bubbles’ must stay at home from Monday, September 7 for two weeks.
In a letter to parents, headteacher Linda Gooden wrote: “It is evident from the timing of the cases that the coronavirus was transmitted in the community and not in the school.

Students in all other year groups at King Edward VII School have been told to attend as normal, with online learning in place for those who must now stay at home. The school is split between two sites: Lower School, where Key Stage 3 pupils are taught, and Upper School, for students at Key Stage 4 and above.
It comes after several schools in Sheffield and South Yorkshire confirmed positive cases among students and staff just days after pupils returned to the classroom. A Sixth Form student at nearby Birkdale School tested positive for Covid-19 last week, while there were also confirmed cases at Chaucer School in Parson Cross and at Hillsborough Primary School.
Children at Bramley Sunnyside Junior School, Bramley, Rotherham, also have to self-isolate for two weeks after a dinner lady tested positive.
