In the news this week it was reported that in July a moron in Blyth, Northumberland, attacked a paramedic and smashed an ambulance window with a brick.

This was not carried out by a drunken youngster with no more sense, it was a 28-year-old male who should have been smart enough to know better.

It appears the brainlessness of youth is carrying on into middle age these days, but the most shocking thing about this stupidity is the court sentenced him to eight months in jail, suspended for 18 months.

This means that, providing he doesn’t get caught breaking the law for 18 months, he will not serve any time in jail.

Well done, that will send a harsh message to the rest of the morons.

The North East Ambulance Service was responding to an emergency call-out, the attacked victim had to be treated in hospital.

Doing stupid things like this is putting someone’s life in danger.

It could have been one of your family.

People who carry out attacks like this are the scum of the Earth and should be treated as such.

Our laws, courts and sentencing need urgently updating.

Attacks on emergency service workers and property, including our fantastic NHS staff must be stamped out.
