UK coronavirus death toll rises by 535 as 26 more people die in South Yorkshire

Twenty six more people in South Yorkshire died after testing positive for coronavirus, according to NHS figures released today (December 23).

Four more people have died in Sheffield’s hospitals bringing the total Covid-19 related fatalities in the city to 556.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, Doncaster recorded a further 6 deaths, bringing the death toll to 533.

In Rotherham there were 6 additional deaths, taking the total to 407 and in Barnsley there have now been 393 deaths, after 10 more were recorded.

Nationwide, a further 416 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 47,399.

Patients were aged between 32 and 102 years old. All except 15 (aged 37 to 90 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

This comes as the Government is one week away from the next full review date, on December 30.
