Two more coronavirus-related deaths confirmed in Sheffield

NHS England figures released on Sunday reveal the city’s hospital death toll from the illness now stands at 525 after two deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Two more coronavirus-related deaths were also confirmed in Barnsley, taking the hospital death toll there to 349.

No new deaths have recorded in Doncaster or Rotherham since Saturday, meaning the number of deaths in these areas remain at 483 and 374 respectively.

Nationally, a further 159 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 44,285.

The patients were aged between 47 and 97 years old. All except five – aged 55 to 89 years old - had known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

The number of deaths confirmed on weekends is usually lower than weekdays due to a delay in reporting.
