Two more coronavirus deaths recorded in South Yorkshire - but none in Sheffield

A further two people who tested positive for coronavirus in South Yorkshire have died, the latest NHS England statistics reveal.

The two deaths were both recorded by Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, which manages Rotherham General Hospital in the last 24 hours. No other hospital deaths were recorded in South Yorkshire across this period.

It brings the total number of deaths at the trust since the pandemic hit to 203.

The latest available data from NHS Digital has revealed the infection rate per 100,000 people tested between July 15 and 21 in Rotherham was 15.1 – the fifteenth highest total in England for this period.

Nationally, a further 16 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,247. The patients were aged between 58 and 104 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.
