Three arrested over firearms offences as armed police seal off street and raid house in Conisbrough

Three people have been arrested over firearms offences after armed police sealed off a street and swooped on a home in Conisbrough.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police were called to Church Street near the Sainsbury's Local store at around 12.09pm this afternoon (Monday, January 25) following reports of two men in possession of firearms in the area.

Armed response officers were deployed to the scene and three people were later arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

All three of them remain in custody at this time, the force confirmed.

As part of enquiries related to this incident, police were also deployed to an address on Windmill Avenue in Conisbrough to carry out searches of the property.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said that there was ‘no wider risk’ to the public at this time.

"You may see an enhanced police presence in Conisbrough whilst officers carry out further enquiries,” they added.
