These are the first people in Sheffield to receive a vaccine on historic day for UK

The first people have been receiving their coronavirus jabs at hospital in Sheffield as the UK’s biggest ever vaccination programme gets underway.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is one of more than 50 hubs across the country chosen to begin delivering the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine from today, Tuesday, December 8.

A vaccination centre has been set up at Northern General Hospital, with people aged over 80, care home residents and staff, and frontline NHS workers first in line to be injected.

These photos show some of the first people to be vaccinated in Sheffield as the huge operation begins.
