These are the 14 areas of Sheffield where Covid cases are rising fastest

Covid infections are on the rise again in Sheffield following weeks of steady decline.

The latest figures show that during the week ending March 15 – the latest date for which reliable figures are available – 610 new confirmed cases were recorded across the city.

That gives a weekly rate of 104.3 new cases per 100,000 people, which is up slightly from 84.3 the previous week.

Sheffield’s weekly case rate is now the 30th highest out of 315 local authorities across England, though it remains the lowest in South Yorkshire.

While the number of new cases in some parts of Sheffield are still falling, government statistics show there are 14 neighbourhoods across the city where the number of new cases has more than doubled in the latest week compared to the previous seven days.

Here are all the areas of Sheffield where the number of cases during the week ending March 14 – the latest date for which such localised data has been published – is more than 100 per cent higher than for the seven days to March 7.
