The Sheffield neighbourhoods with new Covid-19 cases this week

There were 66 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the city during the week ending August 20, according to the latest available data, which is a rate of 11.3 per 100,000 people.

The latest interactive map showing confirmed cases by Middle Super Output Area (MSOA) in England for the week ending Saturday, 22 August reveals the Sheffield postcodes with the highest recent infection rates.

The map only shows the number of cases for areas where there have been three or more in the last week, with data being ‘suppressed’ for other neighbourhoods to prevent people who have contracted the disease being identified.

The highest number of new cases – nine – was recorded in Burngreave and Grimesthorpe followed by Arbourthorne, where five new cases were confirmed across the same period. Four new cases were recorded in Park Hill and Wybourn, while a further three cases were recorded in Parson Cross.

In nearby Rotherham, four cases were confirmed in the Masbrough and Bradgate areas of the town across the same period, with three new cases confirmed in Eastwood and East Dene.

In Barnsley, four new cases were recorded in Wilthorpe and Barugh Green, while three cases were confirmed in Elsecar, Barnsley Town and Park Road and Grimethorpe and Brierley respectively.

No new cases were recorded in Doncaster, with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust confirming on Wednesday that the trust has not had a single new case of coronavirus in six days.
