Staff at Sheffield McColl's sent home after three workers test positive for Covid-19

A Sheffield convenience shop has been forced to close and staff sent home after three workers tested positive for the coronavirus.

McColl’s on Hutcliffe Wood Road in Beauchief is in the process of being deep cleaned following a Covid-19 outbreak.

The convenience shop chain are working with Public Health England to safely reopen.

A McColl’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm that three of our colleagues in our store on Hutcliffe Wood Road, Sheffield have tested positive for COVID-19.

"We immediately closed the store for a deep clean and are working with Public Health England to ensure we can re-open for our customers when it is safe to do so.

“The health, safety and wellbeing of our colleagues and customers remains our absolute priority during this time as we continue to keep the local communities we serve supplied with the food, goods and services they need.

"We continue to proactively follow healthcare and government advice and guidelines from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.”
