South Yorkshire's Covid death toll rises by 24 in a day

Another 24 hospital patients across South Yorkshire have died after testing postive for Covid-19, as the death toll approaches 1,600.

The latest coronavirus deaths were all announced by NHS England this afternoon, Monday, November 30, having been confirmed between 4pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday, though the patients may have died before then.

The 28 Sheffield areas with a LOWER Covid-19 infection rate than London

There were nine more hospital deaths in Doncaster and Rotherham, taking the totals there to 445 and 332 respectively; and another three in Sheffield and Barnsley, bringing the death tolls there to 481 and 313.

Across South Yorkshire, a total of 1,571 people have now died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

Across England, another 183 daily deaths were announced, taking the national total of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 40,588.

Of those, 57 were in the North East & Yorkshire.

The latest patients to die were aged between 52 and 95, with all except three, aged 84 to 93, having had known underlying health conditions.
