“I'd say about 40-50 people were led by a singer and guitarist but I'm afraid I don't know who they were.

People were coming out of their houses, drink in hand, waving to neighbours and some people brought instruments out.”

Dance academy Excel Dance, based on the Holbrook Industrial Estate in Sheffield, also raised spirits last night by asking students to take part in a ‘doorstep dance’ while observing lockdown measures.

Residents are advised to stay at home in a bid to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
