'Sheffield Spiderman' delivers Easter eggs to children during coronavirus pandemic

A friendly neighbourhood Spiderman has been spotted throughout Sheffield delivering Easter eggs to children who are stuck inside during the coronavirus lockdown.

Antony Hopkins, who is known as ‘have_a_go_cosplayer’ on Instagram, helped deliver 300 chocolate eggs to patients at Sheffield Children’s Hospital on Sunday, which had been donated by the Morrisons store, in Hillsborough.

He also spread the Easter cheer around the S6 area, using his spidey senses to find children who had created rainbow artwork for their windows, doors and roads – something which has become a symbol for people wanting to show solidarity with NHS frontline workers.

One resident said: “Thanks to this friendly neighbourhood superhero delivering Easter eggs to the kids for decorating the window our kids are still buzzing from this!”

Children and young people have been painting rainbow displays across the country, a trend which was reportedly started by a nurse to create “a sign of hope” for patients and staff in hospitals.
