The convenience supermarket on Suffolk Road was described as “greedy” as pictures posted on social media showed toilet rolls unwrapped from multipacks and put on sale for £1 each.

One man claimed the store was selling packs of 24 toilet rolls for £24.

A picture taken inside the shop shows the rolls on sale at an inflated price.

And another person said: “Talk about profiteering when people are vulnerable.”

Several others also pointed out the unhygienic approach of taking toilet paper out of protective packaging.

In recent days shops have been overwhelmed by demand as people stock up on items following government advice to avoid all non-essential contact.

Many supermarkets have restricted the number of items shoppers are able to buy.
