Sheffield Spar store sells individual toilet rolls for £1 during coronavirus crisis

A Spar store in Sheffield is selling individual toilet rolls for £1 each amid increased demand for items following the coronavirus outbreak.

The convenience supermarket on Suffolk Road was described as “greedy” as pictures posted on social media showed toilet rolls unwrapped from multipacks and put on sale for £1 each.

One man claimed the store was selling packs of 24 toilet rolls for £24.

“I hope they are proud of themselves,” another man wrote.

And another person said: “Talk about profiteering when people are vulnerable.”

Several others also pointed out the unhygienic approach of taking toilet paper out of protective packaging.

In recent days shops have been overwhelmed by demand as people stock up on items following government advice to avoid all non-essential contact.

Many supermarkets have restricted the number of items shoppers are able to buy.
