Sheffield sees biggest daily rise in Covid-19 cases since June

A total of 31 people tested positive on Monday, August 31, according to the latest figures from Public Health England, which is the most since June 27, when there were 32 confirmed cases across the city.

Data from the most recent three days available, including Monday, is not counted in the rolling weekly totals – which give the most accurate picture of trends in an area – as it is considered to be incomplete and likely to be revised.

There were 107 confirmed cases within Sheffield between August 24 and 30, which equates to a weekly infection rate of 18.3 new cases per 100,000 population in Sheffield.

That represents a significant rise from the infection rate for the week ending August 28, which stood at 10.8.
