The first people to be vaccinated were given the jab yesterday (December 8) after the Government approved the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine last week.

Yesterday NHS workers – particularly those who are considered vulnerable to COVID die to illness or treatment – were among the first to be vaccinated against the virus.
A COVID vaccination unit has opened at the Northern General Hospital. Sheffield hospitals are among the 50 hubs that can store and distribute the vaccine.
The NHS will contact people ahead of their vaccinations, and has warned against trying to arrange for the vaccinations until contacted.
