The EIGHT Sheffield Covid-19 hotspots in the worst 100 nationally for coronavirus cases

As the coronavirus infection rate continues to rise in Sheffield, one neighbourhood in the city has recorded the third most new cases in England.

In Endcliffe and Ranmoor, 408 people tested positive for Covid-19 during the week ending October 9, according to the latest data from Public Health England – more than anywhere outside of Nottingham and Manchester.

Five other areas within Sheffield are in the top 50 in England for new cases, with a further two in the top 100 nationally.

Sheffield has been placed in Tier 2 lockdown as a ‘high’ alert area, meaning that as of Wednesday, October 14, different households are banned from mixing indoors.

The city has the eighth highest Covid-19 infection rate in England.

During the week ending on October 10 – the latest date for which reliable figures are available – 2,680 new cases were reported, giving a weekly infection rate of 458.2 cases per 100,000 people, up from 347.8 the previous week.

These are all the areas in Sheffield where the number of new cases is in the top 100 in England.
